March 2 – Computers to Covington County Schools – Andalusia, Alabama Dr. Dr. White, You have just provided 50 computers for Covington County Schools in Alabama. We are made up of nine rural schools located in Opp, Andalusia, Red Level, Wing, Florala and the Straughn Community. More specifically most of these 50 computers will be used with/by/for special education students in our school system. As Special Education Coordinator in Covington County for the past 2 1/2 years I have struggled to find the funds to provide enough technology in our special education classrooms to meet our needs. Many children are visual learners. Special education children are no different. We are excited about your gift and cannot wait to see the growth in learning that our children will make due to your help. The Mayor of Opp, Alabama, H. D. (Durwood) Edgar, sent his truck from his personal trucking company (H.D. Edgar Trucking Company) free of charge to pick up the computers for us. Praise the Lord! We are blessed! Billie Thompson Special Education Coordinator for Covington County, Alabama May 7 - Computers to Cochabamba, Bolivia We donated 16 computers today to the Bolivia Life Center in Bolivia, South America. The orphanage is located in Sipe, about an hour outside Cochabamba, Bolivia. It is currently home to 76 abused and abandoned boys. Children's International Network's vision and plan is to house 200 boys at the Bolivia Life Center. CIN is committed to raising the boys through adulthood and providing for all their needs along the way. These needs include education, food, shelter, medical, counseling, and faith guidance. The Bolivia Life Center has an onsite library, medical clinic and life-training workshop including, now, computers. Glory! Each boy receives an average three hours of additional tutoring beyond the typical Bolivian half day of school. The Department of Children & Families routinely checks the Life Center and it has consistently received high ratings. The employee to child ratio is 25 staff to 76 boys. May 18, 2009 - Lake Forest Church- Hunterville, NC for the Bolivia Life Center (BLC) in Cochabamba,Bolivia. I’m so excited about the dynamic team God has put together to serve in Bolivia representing LFC! We met on Saturday for a work project at Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson to “test the waters” with our servant hearts. The work that was accomplished in a short period of time was amazing. We washed windows and did some landscaping – and had a good time along the way (added bonus every time!). What a view we had when the windows were clear of the dirt and grime of the day to focus on the beauty of God’s creation! Mitch White had us identify our individual gifts and areas of individual need – mix the group together and watch the needs get met by a gift of a fellow team member. God’s intention is to weave our lives together to serve the needs of each other with our individual gifts. Where we are deficient, God provides. Bolivia and the BLC is need of servant hands and hearts to show God’s love – and he provides those hands in the form of our teams and LFC. Servants need resources to do their job – and we are raising support (financial and prayer) from loved ones. God’s work is done through His servants in all forms – time, energy, finances, prayer, encouragement and materials. A great example of the gifts/needs dynamic played out this month when Dr. Rodney White in Florida, a friend of the BLC, donated 15 computers to the BLC. But shipping and transportation was an issue. Using LFC connections, we partnered with Dr. White to get 15 computers and monitors ready to ship to the BLC for the boys. Needs met! Thank you LFC for helping us clearly see God’s plan for us. We all have gifts and needs. God’s intention is for us to focus on Him and we will see clearly. We consider it a privilege to represent you in our community and around the world. Thanks for sharing your gifts to meet needs! Cheryl Aug 11 - Computers for Palm Bay Dr.White, We are right now setting up the computers in Stephanie's classroom. The computers will be used to increase the way she is able to teach the children. We are using the computers to put reading programs on the computers so they are able to learn how to read, along with a lot of math programs we have to increase their abilities. We are in such a technological generation that we are using the computers to push these children to the next level. The children with whom Steph works are severely emotionally handicap. The majority of the children are in foster care because their parents have left them or they have been pulled away from their parents for safety. It is estimated that 75% of the kids at this school have been sexually molested. Please pray for the school. They are limited in resources and have a great need. Thank you so much for helping us reach the emotionally handicap children in Palm Bay. Jeff Brown Aug 12 - Computers to Armenia Dear Mr. Rodney White: On behalf of the villagers of Nerkin Karmir Aghpiur, Aygepar, and Tovuz, I am writing this letter to thank you for your generosity and support for our work in these villages. We will start computer training beginning next week until the nurses are able to enter patient's diagnosis, treatments, medications, and history into the computers. The use of computers will sure help keeping the patient's record more accurate and up to date. This is a very big step the village nurses are undertaking. We truly appreciate your gifts. With sincere appreciation, Rebecca Tantama, A-16 Community Healthy Education Peace Corps Armenia Volunteer Sept 3 Sept 3 - Update on Armenia This week, we had been working with the staff, teaching them the basics of using computer. They are so excited when they learn to turn on, start, and turn off the computer. It is so rewarding to see the progress they make each day. Most of them would not have the opportunity to use computers. We will be getting basic medical programs for clinics from hospitals in Yerevan. Today, more and more businesses in Armenia require basic computer skill. In fact, we have been teaching adults, mostly parents from our center, to use the computer. Rebecca Sept 1 - Computers to Beacon Academy – Tampa We donated 25 computers to Beacon Academy in Tampa, Florida. They are starting a special needs school (K-8). The kids with whom they will be working are students who need additional speech, reading, math, and behavioral assistance and training beyond what the public schools can offer or afford. Students will qualify for the McKay Scholarship grant from the government once the county evaluates them. This is part of the Florida initiative of "no child left behind". The directors said, "God opened this door for us and we are excited to be a part of it all. And now, Dr. White, you are a part of it too!" To show their appreciation, they wrote out a $500.00 check. Wow! Thanks, Beacon Academy. Sept 8 – Computers to Uganda, Africa We donated 100 computers to Helping Hands Foreign Missions today. They will be sending them to their orphanage and school, The Village of Eden, in Uganda, Africa. In addition, Dr. Johnny Strickland, with Network of Promise, Inc., donated 200 cases of toilet paper and liquid washing detergent. Those orphans will really be blessed. October 16 - Computers to Haiti We were able to send 41 computers to Haiti Friday. Network of Promise transported them to Operation Blessing in Tennessee and loaded them into the container. Thanks Dr. Johnny Strickland and thanks to Vance for transporting them to Network of Promise. Sincerely Submitted, Dr. Rodney White Founder & President
